Captain & The Kids strives to always promote youth anglers both at the local level as well as nationally through our “Youth Angler Program.” If it was not for passing down techniques, traditions, and the love for the water, it would slowly fade away. It is our mission to always instill conservation and ethical fishing to our youth!
The youth angler of the month for October is New Smyrna Beach Local Mya LeMand! Mya is the definition of a student athlete! Her dedication in the classroom shows with earning straight A’s each and every nine weeks at the local middle school. Mya is also the top volleyball player for the Varsity middle school team. As well as outside club organizations. When Mya is not hitting the books, or the volleyball, she is casting a line in the backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon. Her most recent trip was with her dad in search of tailing reds. When we asked Mya why she loves fishing she said “I love being on the water because it helps me unwind and clear my head. It is one of my favorite ways to spend time with my dad. The best part about fishing is not knowing what is at the other end of the line.” Sol Fishing is so proud of all the accomplishments Mya has achieved!
