November is an awesome time for bone fishing in Grand Bahama. The coast of Grand Bahama Island is blessed with hundreds of miles of flats, and ALL of them have lots of fish! You can come to East Grand Bahama for a month and still not be able to fish all of the flats we have here. The bonefish are much larger here in Grand Bahama than any other Bahama island. The average size bonefish is about three pounds, but we catch them here regularly up to 15 and 16 pounds. November is the time of year when we see some of the larger fish come up on the flats. Water temperatures continue to cool. You will typically see smaller schools of larger fish.

I recommend that you use an 8-weight fly rod with a 10 to 12 pound test leader with a number 6 to 4 fly. My best recommendations for fly selection for our Grand Bahama bonefish are Crazy Charlies, Gotcha, or Mantis Shrimp. If you are using spinning gear, live bait such as shrimp and crab are the best. There are plenty of other species that will get your attention such as permit and barracuda on the flats as well.

November marks a perfect time to consider a visit to Grand Bahama Island!
