South Eleuthera is cooling down but the reels are heating up. Wahoo are here and I love it. There is nothing better than to be trolling The Wall and The Bridge and hearing the line scream off the reel knowing there is a big wahoo on the other end. Wahoo are running in the 30 pound and up range with some smaller ones from time to time. The smaller ones we call ‘weehoos.’ Remember to “rig big” or go home. Simple, strong tackle works best. For starters use a 188 pound leader or 7/7 cable. Some anglers like a fancy rig with a shock leader, weight and other “stuff”. Not me. A 200 pound snap swivel and 188 pound leader attached to a Marauder (black/red or black/purple work best) or Islander over dead bait same colors.
As always December is an excellent time to fish South Eleuthera. Giddy up and tight lines to all. We are looking forward to seeing you in South Eleuthera soon.
