Is it just us or does it seem like summer is flying by? Surely, it can’t be August, can it? The good news though, is Abaco continues to experience more great diving weather. Skies have been mostly sunny with the typical, seasonal thunderstorms, although we are nearing that time of year when we must keep one eye on the tropics. Air temperature is ranging from 76°F at night to 88°F during the day, plus humidity – providing all the more reason to spend your day on or under the water. We continue to enjoy calm seas for numerous days at a time along with light, variable winds. Water temperature around Abaco is in the mid-80s and visibility is exceptional. Tropical fish and other marine life is plentiful, an underwater photographer’s delight. Rays, turtles, barracuda, grouper, snapper and sharks have been frequent and common sightings. Immense populations of silversides still congregate in the swim-throughs temporarily blocking the sunlight filtering down and moving with ballet-like precision when divers approach. It really is thrilling to swim among them. Tuesday, August 20th brings us the Full Tropical ‘Fruit’ Moon. If you’ve not enjoyed a summer escape yet, remember Abaco. Once you’ve visited, you won’t be able to forget!
