April is fast approaching but our divers and snorkelers haven’t been waiting. Many of them have arrived already and are taking advantage of the great weather bestowed upon Abaco this year.

With a serious warming trend of both air and water temperatures, it is an ideal time to visit. Warm daily temperatures are moderated at night by cool breezes off the ocean. Air temperatures range from 81°F during the day to 69°F at night. The average water temperature is 78°F. Visibility has been exceeding 100 feet!

Along with the warmer currents come even more frequent sighting of diving favorites— sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and sharks. For macro photo enthusiasts, our pet groupers, Gidget and Gulliver, along with an abundance of arrow crabs, flamingo tongue and blue-violet Pedersen cleaner shrimp, provide the perfect subjects.

The Full Moon will occur on April 15 at 3:43 a.m., set your alarm. Known as the ‘Pink Moon’, supposedly because the wild pink ground phlox is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring.

As a reminder, April 1 marks the end of crawfish (lobster) season in the Bahamas until it begins again in August.

No excuses, pack your gear and certification cards and we’ll see you in April!!!
