In case the warming temperatures and brighter sunrises hadn’t let you know, yeah, summer’s here. Farewell wetsuit tops and cool water, and farewell north swells and northeasterly winds. Let’s lay out the welcome mat for an early-season, tropical lowpressure system that cranks some swell lines through our island chain and onto awaiting reef breaks. Yes, there’s always a chance to get a storm swell (or two!) in June, but rather count on small days with east swell and lighter winds. Longboards, SUPs and thick and- wide shortboards reign supreme for those wanting to actually catch waves on these small days. Be on it when it’s there too, ’cause guess what, they don’t call it the summer doldrums for nothing. Our company runs surf lessons throughout most of the summer and it can be a great time to learn, especially since we just got a new fleet of Softtech boards in, sure to give you that Surfer’s High!
