[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ovember begins with cooler air and ends with thinking about things you are thankful for. I’m thankful for the cooler air and also the fact cold fronts are rolling off the big landmass to our west and bringing the Bahamas waves! Many of these fronts move off pushing eastwards and much of the United States coastline misses the main thrust of these swells. Islands in our archipelago and places like Puerto Rico reap the rewards. So yeah, it could be worth getting that passport stamped this month. Do keep in mind wind direction is always a factor this month; keep a compass and (if you can find it) decent, detailed map handy. And yeah, that darn worldwide web lists a lot of the spots. But, and this is part of the beauty, although off-putting to some, surf exploration here is for the adventurous. Wanna paddle to that reef breaking 100 yards offshore? You might be the only one out. Bring a buddy, respect our coral and marine environment. We could all limit how many conch dishes we order from restaurants. If conching, leave as many as you take? It’s time for a little Conchservation! We could all go a little more vegetarian! My mother-in-law’s bumper sticker sums it up well: Question Consumption.
