Whew! April has come so fast. February and March flew by for us! We missed our article deadline last month because we have been overwhelmingly busy between the restaurant, Real Estate and the Charter business. Naples season can be an extremely busy time of year; we look forward to the busy days and nights. The fishing has been phenomenal and the charters have been very busy. If you are looking to set up a charter, book as soon as possible as we are filling spaces fast!
One of our February charters was a new customer from Chicago that had not caught a snook before. We love being able to give the new experience, as every fish is usually a different strategy. Teaching fishing is definitely one of my passions. Our client Ed, was in my opinion, the “Snook Whisperer” during our charter! His first cast he jumped a tarpon which ended up shaking the hook. Second fish, slot snook! What a beauty, then after getting a nice 25” snook, he ended up with a 36” drag racing snook before we could even unhook the 25” snook! This was amazing, seeing as he had never caught one before, but we sure delivered. What an amazing day of fishing! He was so grateful he sent us a charter for the next week, which ended up almost as amazing! J & J were great New York clients, they had the luck on their side, as well. We started the day with a couple nice snook and then landed a beautiful backwater tarpon. She was one of the biggest backwater tarpon we have caught recently; what a treat! We finished the day with a Slam and got the redfish on board in the last cast of the day! Nothing like last minute! We donated a charter for the Coastal Conservation Association’s banquet and will be taking our lucky winners on a backwater charter this coming summer! We love being able to give back to our community. Naples is so beautiful this time of year and the fishing is always on fire! Can you understand why we never want to leave?
