The concept of a sunny Christmas may seem strange but that is what the weather is like in December in Bimini. The weather is mostly warm with the exception of when a cold front passes through and even then the air temperature seldom drops below 65 degrees. The average daytime air temperature is between 75 and 85 degrees and the average nighttime air temperature is between 65 and 75 degrees. The visibility is so great with the water being crystal clear the diver can see up to 100-plus feet. One can take a break from walking in a winter wonderland to come to Bimini in December to dive in a marine wonderland. There is a wide variety of marine life that can be observed while diving in Bimini in December. The water is still relatively warm with average temperatures ranging from 72 to 77 degrees. A wetsuit is recommended for diving this time of year. The thickness depends on the individual’s preference anywhere from 3mm to 7mm would keep a diver comfortable in the water. A fleece is also recommended for after the dive because water conducts heat out of the body and the fleece helps warm the diver up after the dive. Sharks, shipwrecks, walls and amazing reef dives in crystal clear water is what can be expected when scuba diving in the waters off of Bimini in December.
