Bimini Dive Forecast – January 2012

Cool winds and cooling water return to Bimini in January. The sun remains warm and the skies are most often a cloud free brilliant blue, perfect by anyone’s standards. Diving is amazing with the water clarity regularly reaching over 100 feet. The cooler water brings an abundance of sharks to the shallower dive sites. If you are looking for a unique experience, try a No Feed – Natural Behavior Shark Dive/Snorkel. At Triangle Rocks, you can submerge on a shallow rock ledge near a tidal pass where reef sharks like to relax behind the wall. You simply dive or snorkel the length of this area and can enjoy viewing these majestic animals up close in their natural environment without any baiting or feeding behavior. Start looking for the transient hammerheads in midto- late January and into February just offshore between South Bimini and North Bimini. These majestic animals make rare and short appearances that will thrill any diver. When not diving, there are miles of uncrowded beaches for you to enjoy as there are no “Snowbirds” here. If you have not experienced Bimini, you owe it to yourself to come and visit our piece of paradise in the Stream.
