[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ovember marks the time when cool fronts are strong enough from time to time to reach Florida. As the month progresses, these fronts will begin making their way further and further south down the peninsula. This will begin the process of cooling the nearshore waters of Bimini and indeed all of the northern Bahamas. October proved to be a consistent “catch month” with many days of 10-to-15 fish in either a morning or afternoon trip. Most fish were in the 6-to-8-pound range. As we move into November the bones will start increasing in size and begin averaging closer to the 10-pound range and larger on occasion. While natural baits are my preference, artificials that resemble shrimp and crab (pink and brown combinations) will work well. Fishing mid-day is now an option with the cooler temperatures. Best tides are just after low when the water is shallow but moving. Don’t forget that there are permit, tarpon and barracuda that will test your skill as well. November will bring windier conditions from time to time so be prepared. The nearshore reefs are loaded with snapper and grouper for some tasty meals while you are visiting Bimini. Happy Thanksgiving to all our U.S. friends and hope to see you visiting Bimini soon.
