July fades away with some heavy blue marlin action of up to 700 pounds. Blue marlin are still some of the best bet off of North Bimini in 900 to 1700 feet of water, with multiple hook ups recorded by several captains with fresh ballyhoo. Mahi has come on strong south of Bimini and can be found in about 700 feet of water. If you look hard you’ll see blue water currents with flying fish scattering as you go by, letting you know you’re in the right place.

North Issac’s has had the lock on tuna and continues to be red hot by the wrinkle, just northwest of Issac’s. Live bait seems to have the upper hand when landing the bigger fish. Deep drop best bet is early morning or late afternoon in about 700 feet for yellow eyes and about 1400 for queens. Use as much LED light as possible for deeper water and an 8 to 12 pound sash weight.

Yellowtail, mutton snapper, and grouper always seem to be the right choice on the days where trolling is not. All have shown up in size and are definitely the right choice for anglers who fish as a family. When the action is hot, the captain is busy, so always keep spare hooks and weights.

Remember… we’re so close that on a good night I can see the Glow of Miami!
