[dropcap]M[/dropcap]arch is often my favorite month of the year around the Biminis. Certainly the cold fronts tend to lighten up a bit this month, but the seas can still be rough, especially in the Gulf Stream. If you are crossing in your own boat, or planning on flying over and diving in March, make sure to anticipate being blown out at least once a week, sometimes more. It’s risky planning a trip in March, but well worth the reward. The water temps slowly begin to warm a little at the end of the month, visibility is usually amazing, and the waters are still full of huge animals here in Bimini.

Great hammerhead dives are in full swing right now in Bimini. There are huge numbers of bull sharks this month, usually the second best month for encountering them in Bimini. Huge eagle rays and nurse sharks are a common sight this month, and on the good days, Atlantic spotted dolphins are a great option as well in March. All in all, it’s a big animal bonanza all month long, and during the good weather days, it’s just outstanding!
