March is a stellar month for diving in the Bimini’s. The water temperature is still cool, mid 70s, and a full 3mm suit at minimum is recommended. Visibility remains outstanding in the late winter/early spring months, with at least 100 feet plus on most dives. March tends to be a windy month in the Bahamas, but with most of the cold fronts passed for the year, it’s usually blowing from a good direction. March also means hammerhead season is in full swing in Bimini.  If you are headed to Bimini for the hammerheads remember the dive can be hours long, and much of it can be spent just sitting on the bottom, so extra weights, and even a 5 mm suit can never hurt. Besides hammerheads, there are a ton of bull and reef sharks around. Every morning dive we have done recently at either the Bimini Trader or Bimini Barge wrecks have produced between 3 to 5 bull sharks mulling about, and that’s with zero bait in the water. On calm days March is fantastic for exploring the dolphin grounds. Mosel Bank is an amazing shallow dive just past North rock that’s perfect for a quick dive between swims with Atlantic spotted and bottlenose dolphins. So get out there and explore some of the Big Thrills little Bimini has to offer this month!
