Bout That Weather

Well how ‘bout that weather? Late February had some fisherman and fish thinking Spring had Sprung. However March had other plans as it came in like a lamb and out like a lion! Much the same can be said this month as last month. I’ve planned my trips all around the weather. On the warmer and less windy days the Trout and Snook bite has been great on live baits such as scaled sardines and shrimp and on artificial baits like the Zman MinnowZ, Slayer Inc. Sinister Swim Tail and MirrOlure Lil’ Johns. On colder and windier days I’ve been fishing residential canals and docks for Sheepshead and Snappers. We’ve also been picking up some Groupers, Redfish and the occasional Snook while fishing docks. The best bait has been shrimp or mud crabs.

Looking forward to April. I’m in one mode and that is Tarpon Mode! I’m already beginning to see some Tarpon in a few traditionally productive early season locations. I also have reports from trusted colleagues who are seeing some in other locations as well. This little cold snap we’re experiencing as I write this will set them back a little but that’s OK because when the weather stabilizes they’ll be hungry. I will go more in depth next month on where and how to catch Tarpon.
I do still have some dates available for Tarpon Season 2018 however open dates are going fast! Call now for your chance to catch The Mighty Silver King!!
