The 2014/2015 winter shrimping season kicked off first week in November when a record breaking cold front dropped in on Florida. This sent many to dig out their shrimping gear and head out to the piers and boat ramps. Did I go out and chase? No, but I did move my boat to Oak Hill in preparation of trips to come. Well summer has officially ended for us on the Space Coast. However our tropical climate will not let the heat break its grip for a few more months.Capt. AlexAug 25th, 2014
Well summer is gone and so are the summer fish, just like the kids they are back in school. If you are heading out to go fishing during the week day remember to add some extra time as the school buses will be out. I look for the waters to start cooling off a few degrees and that should bring the migrating fish back south. Brevard - Capt Douglas KaskaAug 25th, 2014
September 1 starts snook season and there is no better place in the state to catch snook then Sebastian Inlet. Anglers fishing in boats and shore bound anglers can fish both the north and south jetties day and night. Daytime outgoing tide is good to fish the tips of both jetties with live pinfish, pigfish, mojarra and croakers.Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinAug 25th, 2014
It is September already and my ears are still ringing from all the excitement from Daytona Beach to Jacksonville. The summer shrimp emerged out of the mud waking up the spirit that died off from the skunk last season.Brevard - Capt LeenogaAug 25th, 2014
Snook season will reopen this month and fishing in the Port Canaveral area may be a hot spot for anglers looking to hook one of these prized gamefish. The deep basins inside the Port often hold schools of snook. captjimrossAug 25th, 2014
In August the middle portion of the Banana River from the 520 Causeway southward to about the Eau Gallie Causeway experienced a fish kill related to a huge algae bloom. The culprit is the highly toxic rainwater runoff that drained into this area.captjimrossAug 25th, 2014
It’s mid-August as I write this forecast for September. At this time our population of breeding redfish is showing signs of the upcoming spawn. Groups of breeders which hold in predictable geographic locations are migrating towards their spawning grounds.Brevard EditionAug 25th, 2014
