There was almost no winter this year for the Central Bahamas. As most of the states in the United States froze and got buried in snow and ice, we enjoyed a beautiful mild winter with water temperatures staying in the 79 degree range. With that being said, there should be an early arrival of the fish we love to look for. There will still be some wahoo around but already we have had an early arrival of mahi-mahi. We are already seeing schools of gold and blue in Exuma Sound. Normally I wouldn’t say go offshore and look around but thatâs what fishing is all about, so venture offshore if the wahoo bite is slow and âlook aroundâ. If the bait comes early then the tuna and marlin won’t be far behind. So get the big stuff ready to go because Mr. Blue Marlin may show a little early this year. Deep dropping will be strong for the next several months and bottom fishing should be excellent as well. Spring is a perfect time to visit the Exumas.
