[dropcap]S[/dropcap]eptember is when I suggest you do your maintenance on the gear, terminal tackle, boat and anything else you have been putting off. It’s this effort you put out now that will help ensure a successful upcoming season once the wahoo and mahi show back up.

Stripping and replacing line, tossing out rusty wire and hooks, along with a little engine maintenance, will help ensure success this upcoming season.

But should you still want to fish our area, go early, then go home and come back out an hour before dark and work hard, and be prepared. There may be fish around but they will stay deep to avoid the heat, just like us. Up and out at 5 a.m. and back by 9 p.m. is what I will suggest. There are still a few tuna and some deep drop.

Now back to finishing my oil change.
