If you missed the full moon bite in June, not to worry, the marlin bite should continue strong for the entire month of July. With wind pushing east, Highbourne Cay should be red hot as fish are funneled through Exuma Sound and have nowhere else to go. With more and more schools of tuna hopefully arriving, look at running more dark colors such as black/ purples and purple/silver. I will often throw something in there to balance out the spread and go with a solid pink chugger or Mold Craft. This will be the one month to find a really big marlin. I will run as many teasers as the weather will allow, daisy chains and bowling pins for action in the water. Tuna will be the next on the list to target. Long run cedar plugs and small Islander’s with a curly tail or small ballyhoo are a sure knock down.
Bottom fishing will be okay, but I avoid eating grouper in the summer months, just a personal thing. Deep dropping around Staniel Cay area can help with dinner if tuna sushi fails to produce. Look in the 500 to 1200 foot range.
Good luck!
