• Coastal Angler Co-Publisher Misti Guertin Assists in Nature Guide Training Seminar: Misti Guertin, Coastal Angler Magazine-FLAHAMA co-publisher, provided information on website and social media at a recent nature guide training session sponsored by The Bahamas National Trust and the Ministry of Tourism during a recent visit to Abaco. The program, designed to certify nature tour guides in the country, has been developed to insure that all nature tour participants receive consistent and relevant information. An attentive audience listened as Misti shared information on how to advertise and market their services via websites and social media. Other panelists were Earlston McPhee, Ministry of Tourism Manager of Sustainable Tourism, Erika Gates of Grand Bahama Nature Tours and Garden of the Groves. Lynn Gape, the Deputy Executive Director of The Bahamas National Trust facilitated the panel discussion.
• MOT Summer Boating Fling to Grand Bahama-Coastal Angler Magazine Joins in the Fun: With summer boating in full swing in South Florida, the Ministry of Tourism’s (MOT) traditional Summer Boating Fling Program is underway. Coastal Angler Magazine-FLAHAMA was pleased to participate in the recent trip to Grand Bahama Island. The crossing was smooth and all had a great time in Port Lucaya. Thank you Ministry of Tourism-Grand Bahama for a lovely reception at the Pelican Bay Hotel at Lucaya.
• Talkin’ Tourism Broadcasts LIVE from Port Lucaya Marina: As a part of the promotion and celebration of Flahama, the Talkin’ Tourism radio show team joined the recent Boating Fling to Grand Bahama and broadcast its June 17th show from Port Lucaya Marina, Grand Bahama Island. Guests included: Richard Treco, MOT Ft. Lauderdale Vertical Markets manager; Shamine Johnson, Manager of the Marina Operators of the Bahamas; Donna Mackey, Grand Bahama Ministry of Tourism office; Karen Pinder, Manager of Port Lucaya Marina; and Thomas Lockhart, Dockmaster at Grand BahamaYacht Club. Serving as special guest co-host was none other than Anthony Zips (Tony “Macaroni”) Hanna. It was great to be back on Grand Bahama!
• And Again, Another Show from Abaco: Continuing to spread the FLAHAMA “tourism pixie dust,” the Talkin’ Tourism radio team also traveled to Elbow Cay, Abaco for a special Abaco edition of Talkin’ Tourism that broadcast live on May 25th from the Abaco Inn. Abaco Inn manager JudyFortenberry, along with Michael Albury, president of the Abaco Chamber of Commerce, Michelle Mikula, Abaco Tourism, Lindsey McCoy, producer of Conch Salad TV, and Olivia Patterson from Friends of the Environment gave listeners great insight into the wonders and attractions of Abaco.
