After this year’s unpredictable weather I hope November will be a repeat of last month.
Of course, I have no complaints about the climate along our peaceful part of the world, but a gradual change helps in predicting the fall migration of certain species that keep our angling thirst satisfied.
Early November should see a flurry of school trout scattered from just outside of Back Bay (i.e.- from inside Deer Island to the mouth of Davis Bayou) to Big Lake by Popps Ferry. November will bring a consistent bite around the V.A. in Back Bay, also in Big Lake. A popping cork with a 3 foot leader of fluorocarbon and live shrimp will definitely put these tasty trout on ice before the water temps drop in late November.
Big white trout can be found in the deeper holes around Fort Bayou and shell beds in Back Bay near drop off s. A carolina rig tipped with live shrimp will entice these big yellowmouth. Also the bycatch of red fish and flounder.
A steady stream of sheepshead are invading our piers and bridges. These hard fighting brutes make for an enjoyable day on the water with family and friends.
Anyone looking to get out of the house this winter give me a call and book a trout trip. Remember to keep our military in your prayers during the Holiday Season. They sacrifice their selves for all of our freedom.
