After a very mild winter the arrival of spring is barely noticed. The ocean temperature is stable around 74 degrees and the water is crystal clear, mild current, and no major storms on the forecast. Spring break is an excellent time for family vacation. This is the time of the year to consider a trip for open water certification or for advancing in diving. A reminder that children 10 year or older are eligible for the Junior Open Water Class, a comprehensive course that will allow the young ones to explore the ocean floors to a maximum depth of 40 feet under the vigilant eyes of a professional instructor. If you wish to dedicate most of your time in the Bahamas to diving and not classroom, we always recommend the e-learning PADI course or the referral system. Call your dive shop on the island to find out about the details. Students at any level are going to dive the same dive sites certified divers are taken to. Sites that are full of corals, fish and as always in the Bahamas, big animals such as turtles, rays and occasional sharks. For the more seasoned divers we also do recommend considering taking a specialty course, usually no longer then two days of diving and very minimal study. You will be introduced to the details of wreck, cavern, naturalist, search and recovery, night, and buoyancy just to name a few. Pick your favorite and improve your skills while enjoying some excellent diving locations. Once you upgrade your diving skills you will be even more prepared to enjoy all that Grand Bahama Island offer under the sea.
