Grand Bahama Inshore Fishing Forecast – January 2013

January is an outstanding time for flats fishing here in East Grand Bahama!

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hat can I say about January in Grand Bahama? Like most of the cooler months, January is an outstanding time for flats fishing. Here in East Grand Bahama, we have not experienced any really strong cold fronts so the water temperature is just right for fishing the miles and miles of Grand Bahama flats, cool but not cold. Between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit is a perfect temperature range for bone fishing. Any lower or higher the fish will not be too happy and will move from the flats to the deeper channels. Typically at this time of year most of the larger bonefish will be cruising the flats as “singles”, not in large schools. These “singles” will easily be in the ten pound range. There are a number of great species to target in addition to bonefish. In January you will find plenty of permit, barracuda, jacks, mutton snapper and more for your fishing pleasure. East Grand Bahama is a fisherman’s paradise. Come and visit and see for yourself. Happy New Year!
