Grand Bahama Inshore Fishing Forecast – July 2012

July is one of the warmest months of the year and the water on the flats is just plain HOT! This means that most of the fish will be moving off the flats and into the deeper, cooler water, or to the mouth or opening of creeks where the water is moving. The water flowing in and out at the opening of these creeks and tributaries will be a little cooler. The bonefish are still here in good numbers mostly in large schools and are feeding pretty well but, we are seeing more permit on the flats in the warm waters. July is one of the months that we catch more permit than most other months here in East Grand Bahama Island. If you want more than bones and permit, there are many other fish to chase such as mutton snapper, jacks, barracuda and sharks, just to name a few.

The fishing in East Grand Bahama is outstanding during the summer. If you are planning a trip, make sure you bring strong sun block and a hat. The sun is definitely hot out here, but this is a particularly good time for the beginners, as there are lots of fish. East Grand Bahama, with its miles and miles of flats, is truly a fisherman’s paradise.
