With the summer heating up the waters off Grand Bahama, trolling for pelagics such as dolphin and tuna, has really put us up for the test. They are still out there, but you just have to work harder at it. With that being said, I have been focusing on deep dropping and reef fishing. We have been successful at deep dropping in August off Settlement Point at West End in 1,200 feet of water and Memory Rock at 750 feet. There are plenty of silky and yelloweye snapper to be had. The reef fishing also has been plentiful.
The inaugural Hand Line Snapper Tournament was held July 30 in West End. The winning team, Triple Play, led by Capt. Xavier Carlton, reeled in a total of 353.2 pounds of snapper. A big shout out to the team! And don’t forget lobster season is here. Come get your crawfish on!
