[dropcap]I[/dropcap]am happy to say the wahoo are back. A trip we made on Duchess in early November produced six large wahoo, a few blackfin tunas, and a couple mahi. A boat fishing out of West End reported 17 wahoo late in November.

This is a perfect time to respool your reels, check your drag and sharpen your hooks. The big ones in the 100-pound class should be migrating through along the drop off from 150 feet to 600 feet in January and February. I am going to be trolling my wahoo getters at 9-10 knots zigzagging the drop off. Tear dropped wahoo bellies will be behind my flat line lures with heavy leads to cover the different water column temperatures. Don’t forget to keep the boat moving on the first strike to increase your chances of multiple hookups.

Hope to see you on the drop off!
