The season is cranking up for the annual migration of blue marlin, yellowfin and giant bluefin tuna.  Break out your 80 wides and 130’s because the big fish are around the corner. You will want to troll lures in green, yellow, and pink, which resemble dolphin and also black and purple to resemble skip jack tunas. You will want to cover a lot of territory in search of birds and schools of bonitos and tunas. If you have a good radar be sure to use it to spot the birds.

Always have a smaller lure, my favorite is pink and white, way back behind the spread to target dolphin and blackfin tuna, which make the sweetest sashimi.

If trolling is slow, you can always stop in 600-1000 feet of water and deep drop with an electric reel for yellow eye and queen snapper. Barracuda chunks are my favorite, but you can also use squid. If you don’t have an electric reel, go to 60-100 feet and drift with squid or ballyhoo for grouper and yellowtail snapper.

Look forward to seeing you all on the rip. Catch ‘em up!
