It’s spring and the fishing is very good. This time of year there are several species of fish that are biting: blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna, dolphin and king mackerel. These fine fish can be caught using different methods such live baiting, dead baiting and using artificial lures at speeds of 7 to 15 knots. Some of the best known areas to find them are Tuna Canyon—a deep trench that lies 12- to 15-miles due south of Freeport—and Wahoo Highway—25 miles west of Freeport and 16 miles south of Memory Rock.
