Bridget caught this 18″ Whiting in South Ponte Vedra Beach.
My girlfriend Bridget caught this 18″ whiting while we were surf fishing on South Ponte Vedra Beach during an outgoing tide in early January. I had picked up a copy of Coastal Angler at my local supermarket the day before we went fishing, and read Noel Kuhn’s article about trying quahog clams for bait. It just so happened our local seafood market had some, as well as fresh shrimp. Bridget caught her big whiting on a piece of clam. It’s the biggest whiting I’ve ever seen. We caught several other nice size whiting on clams that day, but only one on shrimp. We had the whiting for dinner that night, as well as the shrimp we didn’t use for bait. What a great day of fishing !!!
