[dropcap]M[/dropcap]arking the tournament’s 14th year, the Rotary Club of East Nassau is gearing up for another successful tournament slated for June 5-6, 2015.
Prizes will be given for first, second and third place tuna, dolphin and wahoo, the heaviest grouper/snapper, and first place Lady Angler, as well as first place Junior Angler. The tournament will be a qualifying event for the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) World Championships. All tuna, dolphin or wahoo entered in the tournament, must weigh a minimum of 10-pounds to be eligible for prizes. There is no billfish category and in support of worldwide conservation efforts, tournament organizers encourage the release of all billfish.
On-site registration and Captain/Anglers’ Meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. on June 4th at the Green Parrot East Bay, Nassau. On June 5th, the two-day tournament begins with lines in the water at 6 a.m.
Weigh-in stations will be located at Schooner Bay, Abaco; Spanish Wells, North Eleuthera; Nassau, New Providence Island; Freeport, Grand Bahama; and Clarence Town, Long Island. Weigh-in hours are 6-9 p.m June 5; and 6-8 p.m. June 6.
The awards party, hosted by Green Parrot, Nassau, will occur on Friday, June 12 and begin at 6 p.m.
Last year over $25,000 was raised. Tournament proceeds benefit many worthwhile causes in the community such as Project Read, the Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled, feeding the less fortunate in Fox Hill, the Bahamas National Junior Sailing School, and various scholarships.
