We finally started getting some much needed rain in late June and July. The bass fishing was real good in July. A lot of fish in the 2 to 4 lb. class were caught. Johnny Cooper did catch and release a 9 lb bass and Jim Bostic is catching some in the 6 lb range as well. Johnny caught his trophy fish on a Zara Spook but a lot of fish are being caught on plastic baits and other top water lures too.
The Shellcracker bite has been pretty good too with some bedding going on around the full moon.
August will be a hot one as usual. For the bass I would recommend top water early and late and Watermelon colored worms after the sun comes up.
