Lake Blackshear/Filnt River Fishing Report: Dec 2013

by Scott Holland

Bass are getting into the winter mood and fishing should be hit or miss next month. Fish the backs of Gum Creek, Cedar Creek and Collins this month. Shad should be schooled up with bass close behind. Try the rocks around 280 bridge in the mornings early with a shallow running crank bait in shad colors then move to the backs of creeks for those schooling fish. Blackshear is a great dock lake. Fish are always on them. I would try throwing a Texas rig or shaky head in green pumpkin colors under them in the backs of creeks. Don’t forget to have a Spro Frog on for any thick vegetation on the banks around those docks.

Flint River shoal bass are still biting good. Schooling fish are becoming scattered. Try using a jerk bait more this month. Also try jigs and shaky heads in darker colors around the dead water just above or below a shallow set of shoals.
