Meet Coastal Angler’s new Bimini dive forecast contributors, the husband-wife team of Bruce Robbins and Toye Stevens, who are now operating Neal Watson’s Dive Bimini, a Guy Harvey Outpost Dive Center, at the Bimini Big Game Club.
Toye is a native Floridian, who was raised in the Florida Keys. Bruce was born in California and traveled the world as an “army brat,” spending the majority of his childhood in New Mexico, Germany and Florida. Bruce and Toye met in the Florida Key’s and two were married after a four year “long distance” courtship, which spanned between Key West and Andors Island where Bruce worked for Neal Watson’s Andors Undersea Adventures.
Once married, the duo puchased a 50-foot sailing ketch, moved aboard, and provided sailing charters througout the Florida Keys, Dry Tortugas and the Bahamas. For a period of time, their boat, Seatoye, was based at Weech’s dock in Bimini.
Hurricane Andrew brought the couple back to the Keys in 1992, where they operated a back-country kayak and eco company and Toye opened a real estate company.
Eventually Bruce and Toye returned to the sea, working on a private yacht for for eleven years. When the contract ended, as fate would have it, the couple returned to the Bahamas through their good friend Neal Watson to operate Neal Watson’s Dive Bimini.
You can read the couple’s inaugural Bimini dive forecast in the April issue. Welcome to the Coastal Angler Magazine-Flahama contributor team Bruce and Toye!
