Nassau Inshore Fishing Forecast – November 2012

In Nassau/New Providence, November is known as the high tide and new wind month. The fall “moon tides” cause tides to be higher than normal and the wind direction shifts to predominantly out of the north. Due to this change, we are principally fishing the south side of the island. However, Nassau has 21 miles of flats on the south side that are extremely fishable and accessible. At this time of the year, throughout the Bahamas big bones are starting to move back on the eastern flats near the tip of Rose Island as well as a few of my “secret spots”. They feel safer on the flats now that the water is cooling than they do in the summer time. In and around Nassau, the bones are getting ready to school up in big numbers. Besides bonefish, I have more “secret spots” to catch tarpon, jack and barracuda. Like many other guides, I have my secret fly called the “Simon Special”. On occasion, I use Gotcha flies. For the best chance of success, fish the early mornings and evenings on the incoming tide. November fishing is one of those months in Nassau where you can see fish over 10 pounds every day!
