North Eleuthera Dive Forecast – March 2013

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s we head into March, which coincides with the peak season for activities on Harbour Island and North Eleuthera, we are very excited to report that diving and snorkeling will be full of adventure and aquatic life to view and interact with on your visit. The water temperatures are holding around 74 degrees (so I am recommending wetsuits), but there is plenty of sunshine to help with visibility of up to 120 feet. Most of the diving has little or no current. However, for the adrenalin rush of potential big animal action, the Current Cut dive at Current Island will be serving up some real fast action. Recent dives there have produced eagle ray squadrons of 20 or more, turtles, sharks and jacks. The speed of that dive can vary from 2 knots to 12 knots depending on the tides. For photographers, the visibility is much lower on this dive but many of the creatures get close enough for a decent pic/video of this adventure ride. Over the past few months we have encountered sailfish, great hammerhead sharks, large grouper and plenty of silver tarpon along the North Eleuthera coastline. There are plenty of cool creatures to excite any diver.

So for some fun in the sun, whether it’s on the never ending pink sand beaches or the colourful waters around the island we look forward to seeing you soon!
