May is looking awesome as water temperatures have risen dramatically in the last three weeks and look to be in the 76 to 78 degree range. That’s ideal for snorkeling in the calmer waters around Harbour Island and a shorty may start to work for diving. Dolphin encounters are expected to increase as we have had several fantastic closeup interactions in April including long in-water photo opportunities. Check out the Valentines Dive Center Facebook page for updates.

The Current Cut dive site has continued to produce big animal action and will continue to do so in May. The eagle ray numbers seem to be slowly increasing along with the horse-eyed jacks. Sharks are still there, especially Caribbean reef and blacktip. Recently, the area got us super excited with free-diving and scuba diving with three great hammerhead sharks, along with Caribbean reef, nurse and blacktip shark action to complement the dozens of eagle rays. More trips in May to scout these magnificent animals are planned.

Eleuthera water activities are many and May is a great time to enjoy the uncrowded fun whether it’s a dive, snorkel, cruise or lazy walk along the many breathtaking beautiful beaches we have to offer. After that, grab a great local meal and a cool one to end a perfect day!
