The wahoo have been biting really, really great here with all the cold fronts coming through and temperatures dropping. So far this year, the bite for wahoo as been better than last year. Also there have been some mahi-mahi around, keeping things interesting, Yellowfin tuna have only been biting slow this month, but it should be better next month or two. Mutton snapper have been great as you can see from my Facebook page. All of the deep sea fish can be caught at either points of the bar such as Dutch Bar, Middle Bar, Shallow Ground and Pinnacle. There has been more action at Dutch Bar than any of the other points. This will vary from month to month and also as fish migrate through. The bait of choice is live bait, which I sell by the scoop or the drum. Otherwise you can troll ballyhoo or lures. There is always fun for kids and grownups alike when reef fishing—yellowtail snapper, grunts, strawberry grouper and mutton snapper, can all be caught in channels and around different coral heads. The best bait for these is cut squid.
