North Eleuthera Fishing Report and Forecast: January 2014

Red and black snapper will be among the top targeted bottom species in January around the North Eleuthera area. These particular snapper species can typically be caught in waters ranging from 200 to 600 feet using a deep drop reel. Best bait choice is cut calamari. Another two species that will dominate this area will be wahoo and yellowfin tuna, which can be caught trolling dead ballyhoo, lures or live bait. Wahoo can be found around Middle Bar, Shallow Ground and Pinnacle Points. Also, mutton snapper will be biting nicely in January. You’ll find them in depths of 20 to 60 feet. Use live bait or calamari.
