The three top species anglers will be looking for in March will be tiger grouper, mahi-mahi and yellowfin tuna. March will be very exciting because as it nears to an end, the mahi-mahi will get more plentiful. This is when mahi-mahi travels in groups. Also the tiger grouper will be gathering in March. The yellowfin tuna have been late this year compared to past years. Hopefully it will get better in March. Dolphin and yellowfin tuna can be caught at either Dutch Bar or Shallow Ground points of bar, using lures of various colors and also skirts with ballyhoo. The best bait for these fish is live bait, which if anyone in the North Eleuthera area wants any, give me a call—I have live bait. Tiger grouper can be caught in depths of 50 to 80 feet outside of the reef. There were some mahi-mahi caught during February, which means they are starting to come around. March will be a much better bite for mahi-mahi and tuna as April nears, which is the peak month for these tasty fish.
