[dropcap]S[/dropcap]eptember will be the month for hitting the flats. There were a few yellowfin tuna caught in August, but the deep sea bite is slow as it will be during September. The red snapper and black snapper will be biting in September, which can be caught in depths of 250 feet for blacks, and 250 feet to 1000 feet for reds, depending on if you want button wings, queens or yellow eye red snapper. The bait as everyone knows for snapper is squid. You can still catch different types of grouper on the outside of the reef. Preferred bait is live bait, or if you don’t have live bait then squid. Lobster season is in full swing and can be caught on various reefs. The way to get lobster is using a pole spear or Hawaiian sling and spear. Also remember the rules and regulations. Just a few and you cannot use Scuba gear or spear guns to dive for lobster or fish.
