July is a very interesting month on the flats in Eleuthera. With large bonefish swimming the deeper channels, this is a fisherman’s dream season. The water temperatures on the flats has increased considerably and we are still seeing and catching good numbers of bonefish. Due to the water temperature, these fish tend to hang out in the deeper channels on the flats or places where the water has a bit of a current making the water is a few degrees cooler. Because of this, the fish feed like it is their last meal when the fly is presented properly. For this month, my tip would be trying to always book an early morning trip. The water will be cooler and the fish will be less disturbed thus increasing the chance of quick hookups and unlimited action.
