North Eleuthera Offshore Fishing Forecast – July 2011

One word describes July on Eleuthera: blackfin.

One word describes July here on Eleuthera: blackfin. In July, blackfin tuna are found in large numbers with a few mahi-mahi and large yellowfin tuna intermixed in the schools. There are quite a few ways to catch these fish and that can range from trolling cedar plugs to live baiting. The method that has become extremely popular is jigging for them. With the water temperatures being in the mid-eighties at midday, these fish are only surfacing for a few seconds and then down they go. Jigging helps by getting down to the cooler section of water they are hanging out in. Shimano has a variety of jigs and a few other guys and I have even caught these fish on a yellow and white buck tail jig.

So if you got a few days to spare come pay us a visit. We will make it one to remember for a long time.
