May is going to be a great month for deep sea fishing. The yellowfin tuna have been biting great. The majority of yellowfin tuna that have been caught have been captured with live bait and at either Dutch, Shallow Ground, Pinnacle or James Point. The dolphin have been running well also and have been caught with either trolling ballyhoo or live bait and at the same points of bar. As I’ve said before, the best bait is live bait, which for anyone traveling to either Spanish Wells or Harbour Island, I will provide upon request. Yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi will be the two top deep sea fish for May. For reef fishing, mutton snapper and yellowtail snapper will be in full swing. These can be caught at different locations—usually in channels and inside the reef using squid or goggle-eye bait.
