Hey there, Captain Sean Smith here with your latest fishing update from SRC Adventures. After that chilly February stretch, things are finally heating up. The inside offshore bite is picking up fast as surface temps climb, and those clean water breaks are starting to stand out again.
We’re seeing some solid Cobia action around the structure in 70 to 90 feet of water. The bigger ones are hungry and on the move, working their way toward shore. Keep a close eye on your sonar marks, drop some lively bait on a long leader, and don’t be afraid to mix up your depths, mid-column might just be the ticket.
And remember, the “tax man” is still lurking around. So bring the heavy gear and be ready to muscle your catch to the boat before he takes his cut. For you offshore trollers, those 4- to 5-degree temperature breaks are shaping up beautifully with the return of steady weather and calmer seas. Don’t wait for the deep blue, throw out a full spread and see what happens.
This is hands down one of my favorite seasons to get offshore. The spring transition always brings in more opportunities at different species of fish and some of the most exciting fishing of the year. As I like to say, “You never know until you go.”
