Orange Beach May 2019

By: Capt. Johnathan Willis

The trout and redfish bite in the Orange Beach area have been on FIRE! Most of the fish are in around 3-5 feet of water. Working along docks and other structures around this depth have provided us with tons of healthy fish lately. My lure of choice as usual begins with a quarter-ounce jig head with a Matrix Shad soft plastic. Also-slow sinking twitch baits have yielded tons of fish. When searching for fish, do not get discouraged if you don’t find them in one certain spot. Just stick to the plan and keep working because you will eventually find what you are looking for this time of year is great for high quality fish. We wish you the best from Gulf Bay Charters!

Gulf Bay Charters

Gulf Bay Charters is set on a safe and friendly experience, all while chasing the targeted fish. Your adventure starts in the Southwind Marina, as soon as you onboard your captain’s 23’ Skeeter bay boat. She’s been newly built in 2018 and comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests. Powered by a 250 HP Yamaha engine, the boat also features navigational electronics, safety equipment, and a live bait tank.

Your fishing spots depend on weather conditions and fish activity. You can go all the way from Pensacola to Gulf Shores, visit local back rivers, and pass along the beach, bays, and nearby reefs and wrecks. You’re most likely to catch Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, and Jack Crevalle.
