Inshore
I have had some reports of redfish being caught around Snook Islands using artificial shrimp like D.O.A. Lures 3” Shrimp. Work around this area with the falling tide and you should have some success. Don’t forget about the snook though. Snook season is open and area docks, bridges and spillways are good places to look for a slot fish to bring home to the dinner table. Lantana Bridge continues to hold a good amount of bait and area docks are holding game fish.
Offshore
The offshore bite has started to slow, but should pick up here in the next few weeks. Look for a good blackfin and skipjack run to start soon. In October the fall dolphin should start showing up. Right now sailfish and wahoo are the talk. Live goggle eyes and blue runners fished on a flat line will help bring a few to the kayak. We have had wahoo hitting the deeper baits in 150-220’. As always when targeting toothy critters like wahoo, I like to use a 50lb wire stinger rig with a 4/0 live bait hook and a #4 treble as your stinger.
