[dropcap]S[/dropcap]pring has sprung and the weather is clearing. As soon as the fish get into more predictable patterns this month everything is breaking loose. Trout and reds will have moved out of the creeks and rivers and onto the bars and flats in front of Piney and the Ochlocknee river and will attack any baits or lures being thrown.

State waters grouper season in Franklin, Wakulla, Taylor and Jefferson counties is going strong. The fish are cooperating and the bait schools will be getting hammered as they arrive this month. Dropping dead baits or jigging and trolling plugs has been producing good catches and if you want fish in the freezer now is the time to be on the water. Cobia are an excellent by catch when dropping baits around our numerous artificial reefs.

After launching from Panacea and the adventure is winding down,stop by the new Tiki Bar at Rock Landing Marina to relax, grab some food and drinks to complete an exciting day on the water.

Remember to take a kid fishing and teach them how interesting and educational the outdoors can be!
