The Port St. Lucie Anglers Fishing Club and the Port St. Luce Botanical Gardens will hold a free fishing tournament open to all children through age 16 on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Botanical Gardens.
Providing an opportunity for children to learn how to rig, tie knots, bait hooks and release their catch, registration begins at 8:30 a.m., orientation begins at 9 a.m., lines in the water at 10 a.m. and lines out of the water at 12 noon.
Trophies will be awarded for first fish caught, biggest fish and most fish caught in two age brackets, ages 11 and under, and ages 12 through 16.
Anglers are asked to bring their own rod and reel, cane pole or hand line and all must wear safety or sunglasses. Bait will be provided but anglers can bring their own. Parents and guardians will be able to assist their children.
Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens is located at 2410 SW Westmoreland Boulevard. There is no fee for visiting the Botanical Gardens for this event; please remember pets are not permitted.
