[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ishing for cobia can be red hot this month. Work the beach on your way out for live bait. Nothing beats live thread fin herring for a bait cobia can’t resist. You will want to keep a chartreuse jig, with a rubber worm attached, rigged up as well. Cruise the nearshore waters watching for turtles and hopefully manta rays. Cobia love to hang out around manta rays. When you find one, ease up alongside of it carefully not to spook it. Cast your baits in front of the fish. Make sure your drag is set good. That first run is a screamer.

Snapper fishing remains strong. We’ve caught some really big lane snappers lately. The mangrove snapper fishing is great. The 80 foot rocks have been productive. Live pinfish have worked great for the bigger fish.
