Seminole Junior Anglers Update – December 2023

Happy holidays to our fellow anglers, family, and friends! Another Bass Nation tournament has come and gone, and the Seminole Junior Anglers were not disappointed with their performances.

We fished Lake Seminole in Bainbridge Georgie on the weekend of November 4th. Lake Seminole is my favorite lake because it’s different than anything else we fish. The Flint and Chattahoochee River both combine along with some creeks to form a man-made body of water called Lake Seminole at the corner of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. A lot of the lake is flooded with timber which makes for some deep-water structure fishing which we don’t get in Florida.

This tournament was a little different with the bag weight being lighter than normal and most of the fish not being caught in the normal areas. Saturday our top team was Carter Burdet and Nathan Bennett with almost 10 pounds placing 14th out of 130 High School teams. Sunday was our best finish for the weekend with Brady Biles fishing solo without his partner, putting 13 pounds in the boat placing 4th!

Brady Biles’ performance Sunday was truly special. This young man fished solo for almost 8 hours both Saturday and Sunday. The mental side of fishing without a partner for these young anglers can be a big part of their success or their failure! I spoke with his dad Mike Biles after the tournament Sunday, and he was so proud of how Brady was able to grind it out all weekend and to be able to end up cashing a check Sunday.

Our next tournament is on North Lake Okeechobee out of the Scott Driver ramp on December 9th and 10th. We hope to continue to bring in some large bags of largemouth bass. Our annual fundraiser event will be held on Saturday February 24th, St Johns River Bass Bash – please save the date on your calendar and join us!

As always, we could not do it without our sponsors! Our title sponsors; Avid Sportswear, Mudhole Custom Tackle, Orlando Coastal Angler Magazine, Accurate Fence, Grove Scientific and Engineering Co, Mullinax Ford, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Oakley. Thanks to all our sponsors and thank you for reading. We hope to see you on the water.
